Samuel Karoki is an Associate Professor of Mathematics and the Dean of the Faculty of Science at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (1986), Master of Science in Mathematical Statistics(1988) both from the University of Nairobi and PhD in Statistics (2010) from Kenyatta University. He started his teaching career as an Assistant Lecturer at Egerton University in 1988. In 1995, he joined the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) as a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics rising to the position of Senior Lecturer in 2005 and Associate Professor in 2014. He was appointed HoD, Department of Mathematics & Computer Science in 2003, a position he served until 2012. In August 2013, he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Science, the position he is currently holding. He is also on the Board of Directors of the CUEA Consultancy. The other notable positions he has held are: University Examination Coordinator (1999-2003), Chairman of the Board of Trustees, CUEA Provident Fund (2007-2012) and Chairman of the CUEA Benevolent Fund (2002 to date). Outside CUEA, he serves as a Consultant Data Analyst for USAID in their HIV programmes in Kenya since 2011. His research interests include sample surveys analysis, Statistical modeling of education and health systems and Application of survival analysis techniques in clinical trials.
