On Saturday, June 15, we celebrated the African Child Day at Ng’ong market with the theme ‘Kid’s Choice is Renewable’.
CUEA with other organizations such as Global Hope Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, 350 Org., JPIC Franciscan Africa, Sisters of Mercy Kenya, Learning and Spiritual Center and Mary Immaculate School came together to mark this day.
The procession began in the morning from Zambia road in Ngong towards Ng’ong market creating awareness to the residents about the importance of keeping the environment clean as they requested them to particularly use the greener and renewable energy rather than fossil fuels which are harmful to the environment.
The event was finally graced at Global Hope and Rescue Center where lunch was provided and CUEA band entertained the kids.
The African Child Day has been celebrated every year since 1991 to honor those who participated in the Soweto uprising in South Africa and raises awareness of continuing need for improvement of education provided to African Children. It was initiated by Organisation of Africa Unity (OAU) now known as African Union (AU).
