On Saturday, July 13, the South Sudanese Students celebrated their independence day here at CUEA.

The over 90 Sudanese nationals arrived at the University at 10 am in the morning together with other visitors and were received by officials from South Sudanese students Association. They were then guided to Missio Hall where the celebration was conducted.

Several guests within and outside the University were invited to join the students for celebration, Dr. Elizabeth, South Sudan Minister of Health and Mr. Jeremiah Otieno, the CUEASO chairperson, too were present.

The occasion was opened with a word of prayer from one of the Sudanese students and later Mr. Jeremiah welcomed the guests and students to CUEA.

Fr. Lojo Kanadi, encouraged the congregation to preach peace and harmony among themselves. He further added South Sudan needs unity to develop and nothing is impossible.

The CUEASO chair in his remarks said, ‘’together with South Sudanese student’s association we will make sure this day is well celebrated,’’ he said.

Dr. Elizabeth concluded by advising students to always consider their communities first and they should go and improve their countries instead of being in foreign nations after excelling in education.

At the end of the function, all those present, were served with South Sudanese dishes.
