On Thursday, September 12, we held our Convocation Ceremony preceded by the Holy Mass under the theme, “Professionalism, Ethics and Catholic Values”. The Principal Celebrant of Holy Eucharistic Celebration was Most Rev. Hubertus Matheus Maria Van Megen the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan.

In his opening speech, our VC, Very Rev. Prof. Stephen Mbugua appreciated the newly appointed Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan Most Rev. Hubertus Van Megen for his second visit to the University and welcomed the CUEA Family to the mass and promising a New Semester full of God’s blessings.

The Apostolic Nuncio during his homily encouraged the CUEA fraternity to live in love as love is a gift from God and God is love. He urged students to put trust in the Lord for the Lord to build their academic course. “God gives time just as a good teacher gives time to the student to study for exams, so as a student use your time wisely”, he further added.

After the homily, the Nuncio signed attestation for the new lectures in the institute of Canon Law, that is, Fr.Ferdinand Lugonzo Makaka and Sr. Rose Awiti on behalf of the mother church.

During the academic procession led by the University Registrar, Dr. Simon Kang’ethe, the VC urged the CUEA family to be genuine in seeking truth in learning and gaining skills on how to solve issues that arise. He urged students to create positive energy in learning and to satisfy their academic endeavour through adaptive curiosity and contributing to create a greater University.” We offer scholarships to the needy students and we have also created Biometrics for security purposes at the University”, he said as he declared the 2019/2020 academic year officially opened.

Rt. Rev. Paul Kariuki Njiru, the Bishop, Embu Catholic Diocese and Chairman, KCCB Commission for Education and Religious Education urged students to be obedient and passionate in their academic journey as they follow the University’s motto” Consecrate them in the Truth”.

“Embrace and reflect on catholic values, dignity and community service as a Catholic University as the catholic values make you to be different from other learning institutions”, remarked the Apostolic Nuncio.
