Main Goal of the Conference Theme: Harnessing AI for Innovation in Education

To promote ethical and inclusive AI-driven education systems by fostering collaboration, empowering stakeholders, advancing innovative solutions for personalized learning, equitable access, and curriculum delivery, enhancing governance and infrastructure, and leveraging AI tools to combat assessment cheating and address Africa’s unique educational and socio-economic challenges.

Background of the AI Conference Theme: Harnessing AI for Innovation in Education

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing education and other key sectors globally, presenting unprecedented opportunities to address systemic challenges while unlocking pathways for innovation. In Kenya and across Africa, AI has the potential to bridge critical gaps in access to quality education, enhance curriculum delivery, and provide personalized learning experiences tailored to diverse needs (UNESCO, 2023). From early childhood education to university-level learning, AI technologies are reshaping how education is delivered and experienced.

Despite these advancements, integrating AI into educational systems requires thoughtful governance frameworks rooted in ethical principles. Issues of equity, transparency, data privacy, and accountability remain critical to ensuring that AI serves as a tool for inclusion rather than exacerbating existing inequalities (World Bank, 2023). Addressing these challenges is essential to creating education systems that are not only technologically advanced but also fair, inclusive, and sustainable.
