Office of The Chaplain

About the Chaplain Office

The office of the Chaplain has various objectives and activities. To facilitate its smooth operations, the Chaplain formed a team composed of University Professors, Members of Staff, Students, Religious and Clergy who are seconded by the DVC Administration to sphere head the pastoral activities in the University. The members of this chaplaincy Pastoral Council are:

  4. Dean, Faculty of Theology
  5. Dean of Students
  6. Priests student representative
  7. 2 lay students representatives
  8. Hostels representatives
  9. Chairperson, St. Bakhita Choir
  10. 1 Professor in Liturgy
  11. CUEASO Representative

The above coordination team acts as the advisers of the office of the Chaplain on matters related to Faith, Doctrine, and Spiritual accompaniment of both staff and students.

Creation of small Christian Committees

We encourage the sharing of the word of God during the weekdays in the different hostels. Arrange with the office of the Chaplain to know when a priest or a religious can visit your small Christian community in your respective hostels outside the University. Let us get to know who lives next to us in our hostels and their needs.

Daily Masses (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday)

  • Holy Trinity Chapel – 7.00 a.m.
  • St. Bhakita Hostel – 6.45 a.m.
  • St. Claire Hostel – 6.45 a.m.

Weekend Masses (Saturday)

  • Holy Trinity Chapel: 7.00 am
  • St. Bhakita Hostel: 6:45 am
  • St Claire Hostel: 6:45 am

NB: Community Mass held on Thursdays at Missio Hall at 12.00 Noon

Morning prayers (Lauds)

6.45 a.m. at Holy Trinity Chapel – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Holy Rosary

7.30 p.m. Holy Trinity Chapel

Sunday and solemnities

Only one mass at 9.00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Chapel or Missio Hall. (see the noticeboard)

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Wednesdays 1 p.m to 2:45 p.m at the Holy Trinity Chapel
Thursdays 5.30 p.m at the St. Bhakita and St. Claire Chapels

Sacrament of Confession

Holy Trinity Chapel on Tuesdays between 11.30 a.m to 11.55 a.m. (just before the mass at noon). We have many priests in CUEA you can also approach any at any other time.

Preparation for the reception of the sacraments of Initiation (Baptisms, Confirmation, Holy Communion):

  • Wednesday from 5.00 p.m to 6.00 p.m
  • Thursday from 5.00 p.m t0 6.00 p.m
  • Saturday from 10.00 a.m to 11.00 a.m

The days and times are adjustable according to the convenience of those to participate in the preparation.

Staff Retreats/Recollections

Every trimester we have a day of prayer: The next recollection for the staff is on 24th November 2012 in preparation for Advent.

Students Retreats/Recollections

Every trimester we have a day of prayer for the students. 

Choir practice

St. Bhakita Choir: at 3.00 p.m. on Saturday at the Holy Trinity Chapel and on Tuesday at 5.00 p.m. at the AMECEA Grounds.
