Rev. Dr. Paul Mathenge serves as the Director of the School of Graduate Studies and the Manager of the CUEA Innovation Hub at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). He is also a lecturer at the School of Business and Economics. Rev. Dr. Mathenge, a diocesan priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri, holds a doctorate in Business Administration and Management with a specialization in Entrepreneurship Studies. He is an active member of the Doctoral Association of Eastern Africa.
Rev. Dr. Mathenge’s professional background is deeply rooted in entrepreneurship and innovation. He has extensive experience in supporting startups, youth enterprises, and innovational entrepreneurship. His research interests encompass microenterprises, faith-based enterprises, agripreneurs, and social entrepreneurship.
In his role as Director of the School of Graduate Studies, Rev. Dr. Mathenge has positioned the directorate to facilitate academic and administrative activities for postgraduate students at CUEA. This includes overseeing research activities, organizing academic events such as conferences, symposia, workshops, and seminars, and ensuring the timely dissemination of research findings through publications.
Previously, Rev. Dr. Mathenge has held leadership positions at CUEA, including Head of Department, Coordinator for Partnership & Fundraising, and Coordinator of Academic Activities. He is actively involved in teaching business classes on entrepreneurship and research methodology. He has supervised numerous Master’s and Doctoral theses and mentors students across various disciplines.
As the Manager of the CUEA Innovation Hub, Rev. Dr. Mathenge provides leadership and direction for planning, implementing, and managing innovation programs. He collaborates with the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) to evaluate the university’s innovation readiness and participates in KeNIA conferences, trainings, and activities.
Additionally, Rev. Dr. Mathenge has consulted for various organizations, focusing on areas such as restructuring strategy, administration, sustainability, management, policies and procedures, development, and leadership. His approach emphasizes ethical entrepreneurial engagement and Church-based mentorship in community and small business development through teaching and applied research.
