Biography

Dr. Joseph Macheru is a Finance Lecturer at Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Nairobi, Kenya. He has 16 years’ experience in lecturing, eight of which are gained from lecturing at university level and eight from teaching in accounting professional levels. Prior to his current lecturing role, He was the Country Tax and Capital Planning Manager at Barclays Bank of Kenya, now Absa Bank of Kenya. He has ten years of banking experience, having held several key roles including Financial Controls Analyst, Accounts Payable Assistant, Securities Analyst and Project Assistant. 

He is a Doctor of Philosophy in Finance and holds a Master of Business Administration in International Business Management as well as Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Banking. Professionally, he is a Certified Public Accountant and a member in good standing of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).  

As a lecturer and a mentor both in the university, industry and accounting professional levels, he has demonstrated the ability to fuse his industry experience with learning and research. Through his stewardship as the Head of Accounting and Finance department in the School of Business and Economics (SOBE), he plays a major role in linking the students with the industry professionals. These collaborations gives students practical experience through attachments and internship opportunities as well as community service. He is the Patron of Ajira club and instrumental in shaping students’ innovations and transforming them into business opportunities.
