In this department, we believe that discovery and exploration has no bounds. The department was established in 2006. Since then, there has been a tremendous trajectory in teaching, training and research within and beyond the AMECEA region. The department boasts over 1000 graduands.This department is unique in the sense that it commits to advancing scientific knowledge, promotes environmental stewardship, fosters the responsible use of science and technology for the betterment of society. Since its establishment in 2006, this department has embraced the spirit of limitless discovery and exploration. Over the years, it has charted an impressive course in education, training, and research, extending its influence far beyond the AMECEA region. With an impressive tally of over 1000 graduates, it stands as a testament to its commitment to academic excellence. Setting itself apart, this department is characterized by its steadfast dedication to advancing scientific understanding, advocating for environmental stewardship, and cultivating the ethical application of science and technology for societal advancement.

Biology
He holds a bachelor from Mt. Kenya University, Master of Science and doctor of philosophy in Biotechnology from Kenyatta University. He has over 15 publications in international journal. With a Doctor of Philosophy in Biotechnology from Kenyatta University, he also obtained a Master of Science and a bachelor’s degree from Mt. Kenya University. His academic prowess is evidenced by over 15 publications in international journals.
He holds a Master of science in entomology from Kenyatta University , Bachelor of Science and Post graduate diploma,. He has five publications
Chemistry
Physics
James is a distinguished and award-winning scholar. He has expertise in Computational Materials Physics. He obtained his PhD from the Technical university of Kenya after having a sandwich programme from the University of Cantabria. He is a member of Materials Research Society and Physics Society of Kenya. He has published a couple of publications in high impact journals. He currently heads the Theoretical Condensed matter research group (TCMG) at CUEA. TCMG has a bias towards materials discovery. His research interests involve ferroelectrics, magnetoelectric and polymers.
Holds a Bachelor of Education Science degree from MMUST, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Physics from Kibabii University. Dr. Lusamamba has over 10 years of teaching and research at the university level. He has published a number of scientific articles in referred international journals. His research interest is in Superconductivity. With a Doctor of Philosophy in Physics from Kibabii University, Dr. Lusamamba also holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Education Science degree from MMUST. Accumulating over a decade of experience in teaching and research at the university level, he has contributed to numerous scientific articles published in reputable international journals. Dr. Lusamamba’s primary research focus lies in the field of Superconductivity.
