His research concentrates on Aural Criticism of the Bible, aiming to demonstrate that the biblical text is primarily intended for an audience of listeners rather than readers. With hearing as the main means of reception, reading becomes ancillary. This research was inspired by his African cultural background.
His second area of research explores themes such as leadership and violence in the Bible, with particular attention to the articulation between exegesis and hermeneutics. He seeks to promote a global conversation among various hermeneutics of the Bible in collaboration with other scholars: e.g., N.Ex.U.S. (an acronym for Nurturing Exegetical Understanding of Scripture: www.hermenexus.org) based in Rome; Sacred Texts International Conference (in collaboration with Dr. Michael Mensah at the University of Ghana, the Department for the Study of Religions: www.sacredtextsafrica.org).
In terms of collaboration and service, he is a member of the Panafrican Association of Catholic Exegetes (PACE), the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL), the Jungmann Society of Jesuits in Liturgy, and the African Association of Theologians. At the Church level, he serves as a member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission (Vatican), the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC) (Vatican), and as a consultor to the Dicastery for Culture and Education (Vatican), and the Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops (Vatican).

                        +

Rev.
