Certified Investment and Financial Analysts Course Overview The Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA) course is designed for individuals who aspire to qualify and work as investment, securities, and financial analysts, portfolio managers, investment bankers, fund managers, and consultants on national and global financial markets, among other related finance careers. Requirements to be Registered as a CIFA Student To be registered as a student for any of the professional examinations, one must provide evidence of holding one of the following minimum qualifications: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with an aggregate average of at least grade C+ (C plus) or its equivalent. Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) with at least TWO Principal passes, provided the applicant has credits in Mathematics and English at Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) level or equivalent qualifications. KASNEB technician, diploma, or professional examination certificate. A degree from a recognized university. International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination with grade C in 6 papers, including C in both English and Mathematics. Other certificates or diplomas as approved by KASNEB. Curriculum Road Map Foundation Level Financial Accounting Professional Ethics and Governance Introduction to Law and Governance Economics Quantitative Analysis Introduction to Finance and Investments Intermediate Level Portfolio Management Financial Statements Analysis Equity Investments Analysis Fixed Income Investments Analysis Public Finance and Taxation Advanced Level Leadership and Management Corporate Finance Alternative Investments Analysis Advanced Portfolio Management Derivatives Analysis Practical Paper on Financial Modelling and Data Analytics Exemptions for Holders of Qualifications from Other Universities and Examination Bodies Exemptions may be granted to holders of degrees, diplomas, and certifications from other recognized universities, institutions of higher learning, and examination bodies. To qualify for an exemption, applicants must provide evidence of adequate coverage of the content of the papers for which they seek an exemption. Note: No exemptions will be granted for the advanced level of professional exams except for graduates of KASNEB examinations. Exemptions are granted by KASNEB on a case-by-case basis; therefore, students must present the prerequisite documents to KASNEB offices for evaluation to determine the number of exemptions to be granted. Examination Entries Registered students who wish to take the exam must submit the prescribed entry form, either physically or online through the student portal, duly completed. Further details on exam entry are available on the KASNEB website. Note: It is the responsibility of each student to register with their respective examination bodies and pay their renewal and examination fees directly to KASNEB.
