Faculty of Law public lecture at CUEA

Producing competent and morally conscious law graduates with requisite legal skills who deliver quality legal service.

The Faculty of Law, now celebrating 20 years of existence began in the year 2005 as a Department within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The Department was responsible for managing the Bachelor of Laws degree programme which had been launched in March of the same year as well as teaching various law courses in other faculties at the University. In 2007, the Department transformed into the Faculty of Law and was formally inaugurated during the University’s Convocation on 25th August 2007.

Located at the Kozlowiecki Hall, situated along Bogani East Road in Lang’ata, Nairobi, the Faculty has a space and serene facility which accommodates its faculty and administration offices, lecture hall and rooms, computer lab, a moot court facility and student leadership offices. The facility is accessible to people living with disabilities and provides necessary amenities for them. There is ample parking space and good security.

It is committed to training qualified and competent lawyers who are well grounded in law, both national and international, driven by a culture of research and community service and who are agents of liberation and transformation of people in their social, cultural, political, economic and religious dimensions.

Vital to ensuring the highest quality of academic excellence is the adherence to legal, regulatory and professional standards. In addition, the Faculty runs benchmarking programmes that enable it to develop and continually improve. Also to keep its programmes relevant to the industry and profession needs the Faculty reviews each of them regularly and works to support quality delivery by maintaining highly qualified teaching staff who are well vast in their areas of specialization. The Faculty also collaborates with Lecturers from other Schools and Faculties within the University and also from other Institutions.

Students are prepared to face realities in work life by being offered opportunities for fieldwork majorly through moot courts, attachments, internships, legal clinics, and community service.

At the moment, the Faculty offers three main programmes: (i) the Master of Laws (LLM), the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and (iii) the Diploma in Law. It is working towards offering further academic training opportunities by coming up with new programmes and short courses that will be useful for the legal fraternity.

Vision: To produce competent and morally conscious law graduates, with requisite legal skills who will deliver quality legal service and sustain integrity, decency and moral values in society by providing dynamic and transformative regional leadership.
