Research interests: Climate Change Mitigation; Sustainable Resource Management; Aquatic Environment Quality; Ms. Jacinta Kinyunzu is a dedicated environmental chemist whose research addresses some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. Her work on COVID-19 impacts on water quality in the Indian Ocean Rim region represents an important contribution to understanding how global health crises intersect with environmental quality.; Her PhD research on sea surface temperatures and climate change provides critical insights into the mechanisms and impacts of global warming in marine environments. This work is particularly relevant for the Indian Ocean region, where rising temperatures have significant implications for marine ecosystems, coastal communities, and regional climate patterns.; Ms. Kinyunzu's commitment to empowering communities to sustainably manage climate change impacts reflects her understanding that effective environmental solutions require both scientific rigor and community engagement. Her research bridges the gap between scientific knowledge and practical applications for climate change adaptation and mitigation.; Through her teaching and research, she prepares future environmental scientists to address complex environmental challenges with innovative, sustainable solutions that consider both ecological integrity and community well-being.
