4th Public Law Lecture
The Faculty of Law at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) held its prestigious 4th Public Lecture on March 11, 2026, featuring H.E. Peter Marie R. Maddens, the Ambassador of Belgium to Kenya, as the distinguished Chief Guest and keynote speaker.
The lecture, themed "Is this the Moment to Reset the North–South Relationship?", explored the evolving dynamics between the Global North and South, examining geopolitical shifts, trade relations, climate justice, and the quest for a more equitable international order.
Ambassador Maddens offered a thought-provoking perspective on how diplomatic engagement and multilateral cooperation can address the structural imbalances that have historically defined North–South relations. The lecture attracted law students, faculty members, legal practitioners, diplomats, and policy enthusiasts, sparking a vibrant question-and-answer session that underscored the relevance of the topic in contemporary international discourse.
