CUEA Law Students Engage Supreme Court Judge on Presidential Election Dispute Resolution

The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) hosted Hon. Justice William Ouko, Judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya, on Tuesday, 15th September 2026, for an academic lecture with Law students.

The lecture, titled “The Constitutional Architecture of Presidential Election Dispute Resolution in Kenya,” examined the historical experiences that shaped Kenya's constitutional framework and the rationale behind the Supreme Court's exclusive jurisdiction over presidential election petitions.

The engagement formed part of a series of lectures by Judges of Kenya's apex court, providing students with an opportunity to engage directly with judicial perspectives on constitutional law and electoral dispute resolution.

This was the second engagement between CUEA and a Supreme Court Judge in the lecture series. In November 2024, the University hosted Hon. Justice Smokin Wanjala, who also addressed Law students.

Such engagements strengthen the connection between legal scholarship, constitutional practice and the Kenyan justice system, giving students valuable exposure to contemporary jurisprudence.
