CUEA Lecturer Highlights the Importance of Reconciliation with God
A lecturer in the Biblical Department, Faculty of Theology, at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Rev. Dr. Kimathi Bedford Maugu , has urged Catholic school principals to embrace the Sacrament of Reconciliation as a vital means of restoring and deepening their relationship with God.
Fr. Maugu was speaking on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, during the three-day 11th Edition of the Catholic Schools Principals Association of Kenya (CaSPAK) Conference held here at CUEA.
In his reflection, Fr. Maugu explained that the Sacrament of Reconciliation is the means through which Christ, acting through the Church and the ministry of the priest, offers forgiveness to repentant sinners for sins committed after Baptism.
He reminded the school leaders of the central Christian teaching that Christ came to reconcile humanity with God, drawing from Scripture, including John 3:16, and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Fr. Maugu further reflected on Christ's victory over death and the restoration of life, emphasizing reconciliation as an essential dimension of the Christian journey and an important foundation for those entrusted with leadership and the formation of young people.
The conference, held under the theme "Catholic Schools: Rooted in Faith, Rising with Purpose," was inspired by Jeremiah 29:11, which speaks of God's plans to bring hope, prosperity, and a future to His people.
