Gabriel N. Kirori (PhD) headed the Economics Department at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa for three years (01/07/2018-30/06/2022), acted as Dean of the School of Business in 2018, and was Head of the Accounting and Finance Department for four years (2013-2016). He taught as an adjunct lecturer at the School of Economics, University of Nairobi, for three years (2007-2009). He holds a PhD in Economics with a focus on rural development from the University of Nairobi (2009), a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Nairobi (2003), and a Bachelor of Statistics from Makerere University, Uganda (1983). Earlier in his career, he served in Kenya's public sector, rising to the rank of Deputy Chief Economist, and served as a United Nations Volunteer and with the former East African Community, participating in consultancies commissioned by UNDP, UNICEF, and ADEC. He has developed three undergraduate programmes at CUEA's Department of Economics (Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Economics & Finance, and Bachelor of Economics & Statistics, 2019), reviewed the Masters in Economics programme (2019), and led the launch of professional business courses (ACCA, CPA, CPS) at the School of Business, CUEA (2018). He has supervised 9 PhD dissertations, 40 MBA/MA theses, and 70 undergraduate projects, and has authored 4 books and more than 30 journal articles.
