78-Year-Old CUEA Gaba Graduate Inspires Through Academic Excellence
By Dr. Beatrice Jemaiyo
At 78 years of age, Dr. Diborah Chepkisich Lotodo has shown that the pursuit of education has no age limit. She graduated with a PhD in Counselling and Psychology from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) on 23rd October 2026.
Born in Mount Elgon as one of 14 children, Dr. Lotodo began her education at the age of 11 after spending her early childhood herding cattle. Despite family responsibilities and financial challenges, she persevered, becoming a teacher in West Pokot County and later founding a primary school.
Following the passing of her husband, the late Francis Polisi Loile Lotodo, she pursued her passion for psychological counselling, progressing from Tangaza University College to Mount Kenya University before completing her doctorate at CUEA.
As a member of the CUEA Gaba community, her achievement inspires students and staff, demonstrating that determination and lifelong learning can overcome obstacles.
