A Word from the Vice Chancellor
By Rev. Prof. Elias O. Opongo, SJ, PhD, Vice Chancellor
As we continue building a culture of academic excellence at CUEA, I would like to emphasize the importance of research and publication. A university is distinguished not only by the quality of its teaching, but also by the knowledge it generates and the contribution that knowledge makes to society.
I congratulate the faculties, departments and centres that continue to organize conferences, seminars, research projects and other scholarly activities. I also congratulate our staff and students who publish books, journal articles, and research reports; present papers at conferences; and participate in collaborative research. These achievements strengthen both your academic profile and the reputation of our University.
I encourage every faculty and department to make research and publication an integral part of its academic life. Let us develop research projects together, pursue grants, collaborate across disciplines and institutions, mentor our younger scholars, and ensure that our research responds to the challenges facing our communities, Church and society.
We will soon establish the CUEA Centre for Research, Innovation and Integral Human Development (CRIIHD) that will provide stronger institutional support for research development, grant applications, partnerships, publications, innovation and the translation of research into policy and social impact.
Let us continue building CUEA as a university where knowledge is not only taught, but also created, shared and used to transform society.
ZIKOMO!
