Cardinal Otunga Memorial Mass, Lecture and Fundraising 2026

By Rev. Dr. Stephen Mbugua Karanja, Chair, Cardinal Otunga Memorial Steering Committee (COMSC)

Honouring a Legacy of Faith, Service and Compassion The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) will hold the Cardinal Otunga Memorial Mass, Lecture and Fundraising on Thursday, November12, 2026, at the Pope Paul VI Learning Resource Centre Auditorium. This annual event honours the life and legacy of Servant of God Maurice Michael Cardinal Otunga, whose exemplary commitment to faith, humility, education and service to humanity continues to inspire generations. The occasion will also provide an opportunity to mobilise resources for the Cardinal Otunga Memorial Scholarship Fund, which supports financially disadvantaged but deserving students in pursuing their university education. An Appeal for Support Education remains one of the most powerful instruments for transforming lives and restoring hope. Through the Cardinal Otunga Memorial Scholarship Fund, CUEA seeks to ensure that financial challenges do not prevent deserving students from realising their academic dreams. We warmly appeal to staff, students, alumni, parents, friends of CUEA, corporate partners and all well-wishers to generously support this noble initiative. Every contribution, regardless of its size, makes a meaningful difference in the life of a student. Students Taking the Lead: Car Wash Fundraising Initiative In the spirit of solidarity and service, CUEA students have also organised a car wash fundraising initiative to mobilise additional resources for the Cardinal Otunga Memorial Scholarship Fund. This student-led initiative demonstrates their commitment to supporting fellow students and putting into practice the University's values of compassion, responsibility and community service. We encourage all members of the University community to support this noble initiative by bringing their vehicles for washing and making contributions towards the scholarship fund. Through this simple act of generosity, we can collectively make a lasting difference in the lives of deserving students.
