CUEA Gaba Campus Unveils Five-Year Plan to Become a University College

By Stephen Mbobu

The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) AMECEA Gaba Campus in Eldoret is pursuing an ambitious five-year turnaround plan aimed at strengthening its academic programmes, research and innovation as it works towards becoming a standalone University College.

Speaking during the campus’s post-graduation ceremony on October 30, 2026, Executive Director Rev. Prof. Nicholaus Segeja said the 2026–2030 plan would guide the campus’s growth through expanded academic offerings, modernised infrastructure, stronger partnerships and renewed investment in the AMECEA Pastoral Institute.

Prof. Segeja called on government agencies, county governments, businesses, dioceses, civil society, sports organisations and alumni to partner with the campus in advancing its vision.

The campus is preparing to introduce programmes in areas including law, health sciences, agriculture and agribusiness, sports science and catering, while strengthening research, publishing and innovation. Its location in Eldoret, a growing urban centre and hub for athletics, offers opportunities for collaboration with industry, government and the wider community.

Prof. Segeja said the turnaround plan was grounded in CUEA’s mission and motto, “Consecrate them in the Truth,” and aligned with the university-wide graduation theme, “Transforming Societies through Ethical Leadership, Transformative Education, Research and Innovation.”

He also highlighted the role of the AMECEA Pastoral Institute, which brings together religious formation participants from 11 countries, in strengthening the campus’s Catholic identity, intercultural dialogue and regional reach.

Addressing the graduates, Prof. Segeja urged them to pursue lifelong learning, use technology responsibly, uphold integrity in their professions and actively contribute to transforming their communities.

He encouraged alumni to support the campus by mentoring students, delivering guest lectures, contributing to scholarships and helping implement the turnaround plan.

“Your success is our story; help us write the next chapter,” he told alumni, calling for partnerships that would strengthen academic excellence and expand opportunities for future students.

Prof. Segeja thanked parents, guardians, staff, university management and other stakeholders for supporting the campus’s mission, and congratulated the Class of 2026, urging them to become ambassadors of CUEA through their professional excellence and personal integrity.
