CUEA Social Sciences Department Launches Digital Hub for Postgraduate Students
By Dr. Benard Lango, Lecturer & Coordinator Postgraduate Research, SSDS
The Department of Social Sciences and Development Studies (SSDS) at CUEA has launched the CUEA-SSDS Postgrad Students Hub, a centralised digital platform designed to simplify postgraduate students’ access to academic guidelines, study plans, research procedures and administrative forms.
Housed within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the department introduced the hub to help postgraduate students access essential information from one convenient location and navigate their academic programmes more efficiently.
The platform serves students pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees in Social Work, Project Planning and Management, Development Studies, and Sociology, providing resources to support different stages of their academic journeys, from programme planning and research preparation to examinations and graduation clearance.
Simplifying Access to Academic Resources
The hub provides links to approved postgraduate study plans and departmental guidelines for preparing concept papers, research proposals, theses and dissertations.
Students can also access detailed and summary thesis and dissertation guidelines, instructions for research proposal and thesis presentations, and a correction matrix template to support the revision of academic work.
By consolidating these resources in one digital directory, the department aims to make official academic documentation easier to locate and use while promoting consistency in the preparation and submission of postgraduate research.
Streamlining Research and Administrative Processes
Beyond academic guidelines, the platform brings together forms required for key postgraduate research and administrative procedures.
These include requests for research supervisor allocation, applications to present concept papers, applications to defend research proposals, theses and dissertations, and booking forms for comprehensive examinations.
The hub also provides resources for submitting postgraduate journal publication data and applying for graduation clearance.
The centralised platform is intended to help students identify the appropriate documents and procedures for their respective academic milestones, reducing the need to search across multiple sources for departmental information.
How Students Can Access the Hub
Postgraduate students are required to use their official CUEA student email accounts, formatted as Reg.No@cuea.edu, to access the resources.
Students are encouraged to use the hub regularly throughout their studies and consult the relevant guidelines before preparing documents or submitting applications. The department also advises students to follow established procedures when undertaking research and completing administrative requirements.
Students experiencing broken links or requiring assistance may contact the SSDS Department Coordinator through researchssds@cuea.edu or blango@cuea.edu, or visit the departmental office.
Strengthening Postgraduate Support
The launch of the CUEA-SSDS Postgrad Students Hub reflects the department’s commitment to improving access to academic information and supporting postgraduate students throughout their programmes.
By bringing essential documents and administrative resources together in a single digital directory, the initiative provides a practical reference point for students as they progress through their studies and research.
The hub also represents a step towards more efficient access to departmental information, supporting students in managing their academic responsibilities and meeting the requirements of postgraduate training.
