Night of Culture and Celebration: CUEA hosts International Students Dinner 2026

By Brian Kweyu, CUEASO President

On Friday, September 18, 2026 the University hosted its International Students to a dinner at a leading Nairobi hotel.

The dinner brought together students from various African nations, including Tanzania, Uganda, Cameroon, Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, Gambia, Rwanda, and Ethiopia, among others.

Each group presented a piece on their home country to the audience, through stories, dance, or traditional dress. As music from these countries filled the air, the spirit of unity was unmistakable.

Students enjoyed a variety of meals, curated to represent the different cultures present, while forging new friendships across nationalities.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of esteemed guests, including Prof. Justus Munyoki, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs and Mr. Samuel Wakanyua, the Dean of Students.

In his speech, Prof. Justus Munyoki, expressed his pride in seeing the diverse community of CUEA students come together to celebrate their shared humanity.

"This event not only brings students together but also strengthens the bonds between our nations. We are a global university, and tonight is a reflection of the world that CUEA stands for," he said.

Their attendance underscored the importance of the event, as they encouraged students to embrace cultural diversity and the opportunities that come with studying at a truly international university.

The event was the culmination of concerted efforts by the CUEASO leadership, led by Brian Kweyu - President, Steve Misango- Publicity Secretary, Laurent Kimtai - Treasurer, Melissa Nyambura - Deputy Secretary general and Gael Chi Sydney in charge of International students, along with the International Students Committee.

Their tireless planning ensured that every detail, from the entertainment to the menu, was perfectly executed, offering students a truly international experience.

For the students, the dinner was a night to remember. Beyond the fun and festivities, it was an opportunity to break the monotony of class life and engage in meaningful conversations. Local students had the chance to learn more about the customs and traditions of their peers from abroad, and in return, international students got a deeper understanding of Kenya’s rich and diverse culture.

As the night drew to a close, the joy was palpable. Laughter, music, and memories filled the air as students exchanged contacts, promising to keep in touch and continue learning from one another. This year's International Dinner wasn't just an event—it was a testament to CUEA’s commitment to fostering global unity and understanding within its walls.

For many, the night will be etched in their memories as a defining moment of their university experience, proving once again that CUEA is more than just a place of learning—it is a community where cultures converge, and lasting friendships are built.

CUEA is known for its diverse student body and international outreach covering tens of Nations.
