Rev. Dr. John Bosco Asiimwe

Rev. Dr. John Bosco Asiimwe is a esteemed Catholic priest from the Diocese of Witbank, South Africa, originally from Fort Portal Diocese, Uganda. His academic journey includes a Diploma in Philosophy from Katigondo Major Seminary in Masaka, Uganda (1993), a Bachelor in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University Urbaniana in Rome (2000), a Licentiate in Sacred Liturgy from the Pontifical University of St. Anselm in Rome (2011), and a PhD in Sacred Liturgy from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) in Nairobi (2018). He has served as both Lecturer and Formator at St. John Vianney Seminary (2011-2015) and currently holds a position as Lecturer in the Department of Sacred Liturgy at CUEA.

Areas of Interest and Research Fields

Rev. Dr. Asiimwe’s research interests encompass a broad spectrum within liturgical studies, including Liturgy and Architecture, Liturgical Textual Criticism, Comparative Liturgy, Theological Dimensions of the Liturgy, Liturgy and Inculturation, and designing Liturgy courses for Seminaries in Africa. His contributions to liturgical scholarship and pastoral practice are deeply rooted in his practical involvement in liturgical commissions and academic institutions.
