QUALIFICATIONS:

Professor Majawa is affiliated with the Blantyre Catholic Archdiocese (Malawi), where he has held key roles including Archdiocesan Pastoral Coordinator, Parish priest of Christ the King-Mthawira in Blantyre City, and Secretary of the Catholic Theological Commission of ECM. He brings a robust academic background, holding a Sacred Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology from Urbaniana in Rome (1994), a Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology from CHIEA in Nairobi (1990), and a Master of Arts in Spirituality & Counseling from Angelicum in Rome (1995). His educational journey includes Diplomas in Philosophy and Theology obtained in conjunction with the University of Malawi in 1980 and 1984 respectively, as well as further qualifications such as a PGDE in Education from Hythrop in London (1997), Diplomas in Pastoral and Church Management from St. John’s University-New York (1996), and in Church Leadership & Justice and Peace from Resthariem in Capetown, RSA (1999). He also holds a Diploma in Pastoral Coordination, Evangelization, Culture and Religious Studies from Gaba API in Eldoret, Kenya (1998), and a Certificate in Quality Assurance in Institutions of Higher Learning (ISO 9001-2008) from Naivasha, Kenya (2010). He completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at St. Michael’s University College – University of Toronto on Patristic Science and Education (2012-2013).

ACADEMIC OFFICES:

Professor Majawa has held significant leadership roles in academia, including serving as Dean of the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Theology and founding Director of the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) at CUEA. He currently heads the Dogmatic Theology Department and lectures on Postgraduate (PhD) – Patristic Education within the Faculty of Education. His administrative contributions extend across various university bodies and committees at CUEA, including the University Council, University Management Board (UMB), University Council Staffing Committee, University Senate, University Council Evaluation and Planning Committee, CUEA Procurement Division, University Deans Committee, University Quality Assurance Committee, and University Doctoral Committee. He was part of the CUEA delegation that negotiated partial funding of the Paul VI Library & Learning Resource Center with the Italian Episcopal Conference under the leadership of Archbishop Paul Bakyenga-Chancellor. Professor Majawa is recognized as a champion and awardee of Patristic Science and Education, having developed significant theological programs and courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He serves as an examiner and adjunct lecturer at several institutions of higher learning in Kenya and beyond.

PUBLICATIONS

Professor Majawa boasts a substantial portfolio of timely research contributions, including over 20 books, numerous academic, pastoral, and spiritual book chapters, and numerous referral articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. His recent publications encompass diverse topics such as leadership, governance, politics, conscience, corruption, and patristic education. Notable works include “Church and State: Institutions of Leadership and Governance in Africa” and “Politics of Divine Investment: A Challenge in Africa,” both published by Scroll Technologies in 2022. He is also the author of classic innovative books like “Patristic Science and Education” (Kijabe Publications, 2014) and “The Holy Spirit and Charismatic Renewal in Africa and Beyond” (Kijabe Printing Press, 2007), among others.

DISSERTATIONS, THESIS & CONFERENCES

Professor Majawa has supervised numerous doctoral dissertations and licentiate theses and is affiliated with various international educational and theological research bodies. He is highly regarded as a theological expert, consultant, and educational facilitator, regularly contributing to national and international conferences. His extensive experience includes supervision of Sacred Doctoral (PhD) dissertations, licentiate theses, MA theses, and STB/BA/Diploma projects across different universities, including Toronto, Liverpool Hope, Resthariem, Malawi, Nairobi, Kenyatta, Tangaza, Hekima, and Marist.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Professor Majawa’s scholarly interests span across Dogmatic & Spiritual theology and Patristic education, focusing on promoting trends of Catholic intellectual traditions, mission and ecumenical ecclesiology, inculturation of Christian doctrine and faith in Africa and beyond, and the interpretation of Catholic faith in contemporary contexts. He is committed to addressing cutting-edge Church needs and public issues such as human rights, justice, peace, leadership, ecumenism, and interreligious dialogue through integrated theology. His research also explores the optimization of Patristic intellectual heritage in higher education, the alignment of the Church and society with Pneumatology, Pentecostalism, and Charismatic wisdom, and the investigation of encyclopedic values in African theology, philosophy, cosmology, spirituality, culture, and religion, aiming to contribute to the holistic development of African transformative communion, evangelization, and civilization.
